Educating and Mentoring in Our Community

As a local business owner and resident of Lewis Center, I believe everyone has a role to play in creating a great community. Lewis Center provides many opportunities to get involved in outreach work. I consider it an exciting and positive day when I am able to make an impact outside the physical walls of Moore Dental and connect with our community.

During the first three weeks of February, I will be meeting with over 500 students at six different events ranging in age from preschoolers to college students. I genuinely enjoy promoting dental health to young people at every age level and hope to continue doing this for my entire career. I will bespeaking with twelve second-grade classrooms, eight preschool classrooms, sophomores at Olentangy Orange High School and undergraduate students at both The Ohio State University and Miami University. Each age group provides different challenges and approaches. These events can range from reading “Peppa Pig Goes to the Dentist” at my daughter’s preschool class to discussing the intricacies of an evolving dental industry with Pre-Dental students.

In addition to speaking at schools, I volunteer to host students at my office who are training to enter the dental field. Prior to applying to dental school, undergraduates need dozens of hours of in-office shadowing.I host Pre-Dental undergrads from both Ohio State and Miami and often stay in touch with them after they have entered dental school. Those in training at local dental assisting and hygiene schools also need shadowing hours and I am happy to serve as a resource for their students. Being able to view the good, the bad and the ugly that goes with a typical day in any career is more informative than any textbook or classroom could ever provide and I am glad to help young people live “a day in the life of” a dentist, hygienist or dental assistant.Regardless of the field a young person is considering, I think extensive,first-hand shadowing is the most important part of the enormous decision of selecting a profession to pursue.

One of my goals when I started Moore Dental at Lewis Center was to be involved with mentoring and educating at every level in our community.Opportunities through our patients and networking with other active members in Lewis Center has allowed me to reach out to students of every age. Coordinating events outside of my office where I can directly interact with students helps me live Moore Dental’s motto: “Serving Our Community”. I look forward to serving Lewis Center not just within the four walls of my office, but throughout Lewis Center and Ohio, for decades to come.

Cheers to dental health,

Dr. Cliff Moore
